Now spring has sprung days are becoming longer and warmer so there’s a good chance that you will start to spend more time outdoors. The change in weather provides an ideal opportunity for the people who enjoy throwing the occasional garden party to send out invites. Hosting from the comfort of your own home can be great and presents the ideal opportunity for renting one of our special garden party marquees.
The great thing about being the host, is of course who gets to come but you also have the opportunity to carry on through the evening calling it to a halt in the wee hours if necessary. A marquee provides great protection from the midnight chill that can sometimes come through the air especially before the full on summer heat kicks in. Here are a few other tips to ensure your garden party goes off with a bang.
Plan your menu
With the improved weather a garden party provides the ideal opportunity to bring out the barbecue – mention on invites that meat will be provided but it would be most gratifying if visitors could bring buns, crisps and something to drink along. A barbecue epitomises the start of summer and usually enough food and drink is brought along to feed a small army. Barbecues get people in the mood for the summer months and as barbecue food isn’t eaten all year round it will most certainly go down well with your guests.
Save on the washing up
Eating a barbecued dinner can at times get a little messy and the last thing you’ll need the next day is to be faced with a mountain of washing up. The simple solution to this without having to go down the line of hiring a cleaner is to invest a little into some disposable cutlery and paper plates, and don’t forget the napkins.
Set a date
Mid spring can usually insure good weather in the south east corner of England, though a marquee will ensure you’re not faced with a wash out if the weather decides to turn a little sour. Weather forecasts are never usually a 100% so a backup plan could be useful but be sure to check with us, we can provide marquees that will keep you and all your guests dry.
Send out the invites
In this modern age there is not a necessity to be totally formal when it comes to invites for your garden party. A quick SMS message to a group of family and friends could suffice or setting up a Facebook page can prove popular with quick interaction so you can gauge the number of visitors. Do consider garden size and the type of marquee you may be considering, take a look at our marquee planner page to get more of a feel. Remember, you’ll need enough space so your guests are free to mingle.
Dust down your garden furniture
This does depend on the number of guests but we can also help you out if you are expecting a few more above average for your party. Our marquees can easily accommodate most garden furniture so do please free to place your own furniture within them. A few extra foldaway tables and chairs are not going to break the bank. We can also supply a carpet with a tarpaulin underlay so you do not have to worry if it has been raining in the week proceeding.
