Happily engaged couples the UK over thinking about how they’d like their special day to go might want to take a little look at what Millie Mackintosh and Hugo Taylor, two former stars of reality show Made in Chelsea, got up to at the weekend as it might give them a few good ideas for their own ceremonies.
According to the Daily Mail, Whithurst Park – an incredible country mansion – was the backdrop for the rumoured nuptials, with an absolutely massive marquee with a glass roof set up on the 100-acre plot in West Sussex. Lots of flowers and bags of balloons were spotted by paparazzi in the lead-up to the weekend just gone, with a neutral palette and classic white seeming to be the colours of choice.
Whithurst Park is a beautiful backdrop for a wedding and if you’re after something similar, then you’re in luck as there are lots of country piles all over the UK where you too could say your vows in similar style. Since Whithurst is someone’s house, it’s unlikely you’ll be able to use it for your own wedding – but at the very least, it’s nice to know that your Surrey marquee hire company will be able to put up the tent on the grounds without much fuss and bother!
So what other country house estates are there along a similar vein where you could actually get hitched? There’s the amazing Wootton House in Dorking, which you should really head off to have a look at if you’re getting married in the near future.
There are some beautiful Italian gardens that will really give your wedding photos the wow factor and these are licensed as well so you could even say your vows there if you like. There’s space for up to 140 guests for civil ceremonies and the wedding breakfast and party menus will be put together by the dedicated executive chef.
Or what about Langshott Manor, which boasts beautiful red brick exteriors, working fireplaces, original beams and an abundance of historic charm (without forgoing on all the latest modern luxuries, of course). Some of the hotel rooms are dog-friendly so you don’t need to leave your pooch behind if you don’t want to!
Accommodation for 44 guests is available, as well as landscaped gardens, a pop-up champagne bar, free parking and ceremony and reception spaces so your dream wedding could really become a reality here.
And then there’s Botley’s Mansion in Chertsey, an elegant wedding venue in the stunning Surrey countryside. It’s licensed for civil ceremonies both inside and out and you have a choice of stylish entertaining and celebration spaces for the perfect wedding.
If getting married outside is your dream, take a look at Botley’s Temple Garden, which is a lovely spot for an al fresco wedding, with an aisle pathway going through the garden itself. But if you have a peek at the glass-roofed atrium, with lots of natural light and stunning chandeliers, you may well decide to say your vows indoors after all!
